The Powell River Hospice Society in partnership with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority is committed to building a four-bed hospice in Powell River. A final agreement between the parties is in the final stages (now delayed as the result of the COVID-19 pandemic). The hospice society is committed to raising the funds for the design and building of the facility - to be located near the Powell River General Hospital, adjoining the Willingdon Creek Village care facility. Once the agreement is finalized, Vancouver Coastal Health will oversee design and construction of the unit and will commit to the cost of staffing and operations.
The project is expected to cost close to $4 million, but significant contributions and commitments have already been received or pledged. Major contributors as of April 2020 include:
- The BC Centre for Palliative Care: $400,000
- qathet Regional Hospital Board: $1,200,000
- Powell River Hospital Auxiliary: $130,000 toward furnishings
- First Credit Union: $20,000
- Concentra: $25,000
OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPONSORSHIP
With approximately $2,200,000 left to raise we have identified some opportunities for major donors and sponsors that will appeal to a broad range of donors. As a registered charity we can give tax receipts for all donations, large or small.
Donations can be made as a lump sum or on a recurring monthly basis. Please contact us for details or further information.
